Comments: This is sort of long but is a must-read for W6CDW system users. Other hams are not likely to be surprised that KA6JMM was banned from another system. When I first heard the announcement on the W6CDW repeater net on Tuesday I was a bit surprised so I called the repeater owner (Cliff Wallace) to find out why he permanently banned KA6JMM. (Sent him out to the cornfield so to speak) Oh, My, Gawd. More patented KA6JMM drama. This makes his fifth repeater ban: CLARA, 435 banned him TWICE, SPARC and now W6CDW. I will be curious where Bebout goes next to hang out and tell his spin on why he got banned here. Maybe the Hemet repeater? Apparently after JMM got banned from SPARC all of his detractors, jammers and squeaky voices followed him to our repeater, W6CDW. However, JMM kept Cliff in the dark about the extent of the problem as Cliff was busy dealing with family issues and now lives in Texas. JMM put up a big front and claimed he had it all under control, had logbooks, was in direct communication with the FCC and local ARRL monitors and even claimed he had t-hunted certain individuals. (Note that after 2 years JMM has not found a single person or automated jammer. He even mislead others into building TDOA and Doppler units but none of that caught anything) All the while JMM would broadcast on W6CDW, giving out personal information on people like BB, talk about physically attacking people and spewing all kinds of misinformation. All of this while he was in the official position of the repeater control operator. Funny thing is that he would talk about "my repeater" and mislead people into thinking he owned it. So gradually Cliff started getting re-involved with the repeater day-to-day ops and noticed all of the jamming and squeaky voices and especially that JMM was stoking the flames with broadcasted threats and tirades. He even noted how JMM would (illegally) hold long conversations with one unlicensed station only identifying as "Elsinore Peak Squeaky". Cliff spoke to JMM several times about it and got the usual patented Bebout spin and dance to avoid the hard truth. So finally Cliff took the first big step and took away JMM's Control Op status. Note that Cliff had thought of JMM as a friend for quite a long time and was really torn about this step. Cliff still has a lot of personal items stored at JMMs place in Wildomar because he trusted JMM. Cliff was very diplomatic about the way he announced the change to the repeater users. He thanked JMM for all of his years of help and pitched this as a move to get more people experienced at being control ops. This way if someone would go on a long vacation there would still be someone to keep an eye on the repeater. Cliff monitors via Echolink and has a full time link back to Texas. He noted how JMM continued to bait the jammers, broadcast other hams' personal information and issue physical threats. (silly threats since JMM is so obese.) He also noted how JMM would relentlessly snipe at the actions of the new control ops and talk about how he would have handled certain issues in a better way. So Cliff took the next logical step and came onto the weekly repeater nets to issue an edict to all repeater users: do not respond to the jammers at all. No comments, no jamming the jammers, no acknowledgement whatsoever. Cliff didn't single out JMM but did say anyone who could not follow the rules would be banned from the repeater. But JMM just couldn't relinquish his one means of voicing his displeasure. He would encourage others such as ACH, RXE and AZB to jam the jammers, he would make comments about the inability of the control ops to catch jammers (as if he had more success) and he would make comments that he had strong opinions that were contrary to how Cliff was running the show. The clever jammers even recorded JMM spewing his shit and would rebroadcast them as a audio mix interposed with Cliff's orders to refrain! So Cliff called JMM and tried to get him to stop once and for all but you know how JMM responded to Cliff? JMM counterattacked and claimed he was the "victim" with Cliff and the control ops being responsible for allowing the repeater to be used in such a manner. Because he was a "victim" he had a "legal right" and an obligation to respond to the jammers. After all, he was now a victim of "elder abuse" and other silly theories. Apparently this is the same sort of "victim" shit JMM told BB before BB decided to ban JMM from SPARC Cliff had had enough. He has invested thousands of dollars in the repeater to provide a radio system for the local clubs and preparedness groups to utilize. This boiled down to a simple business administration decision: why invest all that money to serve hundreds of people but have the repeater revolve around JMM who refused to follow the rules? Why put up with JMM and his detractors when he could ban JMM and see it all the noise and drama go away? So on the Tuesday MVARC net Cliff made the announcement and the very next night all of the evening recorded "JMM Fuck Youuuuu" recordings stopped. Looks as if Cliff made a good call. Now he can connect the repeater to Allstar and Echolink without fear of any music or profanity being sent across the links. Cliff also doesn't have to worry about some other ham suing the repeater for allowing JMM to continue to make threats against other hams such as BB. Now that I have the full story from Cliff I thought I would share it here for all other repeater users to read and understand just why KA6JMM was banned. I assured Cliff I will continue to support the new control ops Pat and Bruce and I will follow all of the system rules. The repeater is now drama free and I like it that way. I feel sorry for whatever repeater JMM will call his next ham radio home. JoJo
