Comments: Latest update and clarification on SPARC/435 repeater. As many of you know, we are still in negotiations on buying the 435 VHF repeater systems. Roger Bly has second thoughts about selling the system to us. However, Kelly Bly has been the driving force behind the selling of the repeater system. We do not blame her for wanting Roger to spend more energy at home either with the daughters or with something more important like the Rectify Endeavor and book writing ideas. It does not help Roger’s argument to keep the system with the recent harassment of his family over 435 related issues. Most likely Kelly’s desire to rid their family of the 435 system will be the order of the day. Too bad the 435 repeater system has been a burden on the Bly family. Kelly has been the major driving force for this turnover. With this almost certain outcome, we want to insure we have a plan in place to have a smooth takeover. Our main concern is having the same rogue elements that exist on 435 as of today, continue as usual after we take over the system. This is unacceptable therefore, we are going to dedicate the 435 as a VHF P25 FDMA tier I system. We will retain FM emissions via VOIP inputs (which will be controlled) by a SYSOP. Regular repeater traffic will be P25. This will dedicate the repeater to a P25 system removing the load from the 446.640 repeater segment to the VHF region. We feel this would eliminate any of the problems associated with the unlawful emissions that constantly plague the existing 435 repeater. In addition, we plan to have a dedicated Sysop which JMM has the time and knowledge to perform this task. If any of you want to assist, please let us know. Our plans to use existing rack place can be explained as the removal of the radio mount rack and expand more VOIP links this will rest above the internet rack containing the firewall and existing VOIP switches. We are also considering DMR modes (mixed mode) which can be put into the Motorola time base slot which is unused. Consideration to replace (upgrade the SAMTEX 1KW UPS inverter with a 2KW version or greater) the battery UPS is also being planned. This makes the 435 system an asset for a SCALI emergency prep aligned with OC RACES. Gone will be the BHN net, not because of the nature of the net or its operation. We feel this net attracted the wrong type of a user base, it will be replaced with a tech net and a new echolink interface.
